Chelmsford Theatre calls for creative practitioners

Chelmsford Theatre is based in the West End of the city of Chelmsford in Essex. Whilst our front of house areas are currently getting a makeover, we’ve also been busy behind the scenes at reflecting on what it is that we do. We are delighted to announce that we will be launching an outreach programme for the first time.

Our outreach programme will be a key pillar of what we do at Chelmsford Theatre. We believe that theatre has an important role to play in helping local people and places grow. We will create work that exists in and around our walls, and grow a programme that is proactive, responsive, and adaptive to our city, our people and our needs.

At the centre of our outreach work is the commitment to the following three beliefs, we refer to these as our 3 C’s. Connected, Contributing, Collaborative.

We believe that:

  • Outreach helps us to be better connected.
  • Outreach strengthens our identity and sense of belonging.
  • Outreach actively contributes to improved health and wellbeing.

To develop our ambitious and exciting outreach programme, we are looking to meet creative facilitators and practitioners who will be able to work with us to deliver various future projects as our new department grows. We are particularly interested in working with local facilitators and practitioners from Chelmsford and the wider Essex County.

Practitioners should share and be able to demonstrate their commitment to the belief that the arts has important social role to play in positively supporting local communities.

We are interested in hearing from:

  • Storytellers
  • Creative project producers and managers.
  • Music practitioners.
  • Movement practitioners.
  • Drama facilitators.
  • Puppet makers and puppet directors.
  • Film makers.
  • Animators.
  • Makeup Artists.
  • Costume Designers.

Practitioners will have experience facilitating their practice with community groups including delivering to children and young people. Ideally, they have their own DBS and public liability insurance.

To express an interest in working with Chelmsford Theatre on future outreach projects, please email your CV and short covering letter highlighting your experience and particular practice to our Events & Outreach Manager: ku.vog.drofsmlehc@sggirt.lehcaR
