Essex 2020 — Open Collaboration Event #1

On 25th September over 50 people braved an inclement evening to gather at The Transition for the first of two planned Collaboration Events for the Chelmsford, Maldon, Brentwood and Basildon Hub for Essex 2020.

The theme for the evening was  “A heritage of science, engineering and innovation – building Chelmsford’s Cultural Identity”.  It was a chance for 4 members of the Hub to showcase their developing ideas for the Essex 2020 programme and to bring in new people from across Essex to learn about and get involved with Essex 2020.

Each of the pitchers had a mere 3 minutes to convey their idea to the audience, including 3 “asks” focused on help they need to move their project forward and make it a success.  The pitches were followed by 5 minutes of interaction with the audience offering feedback, support and ideas to shape the projects further.  There was also plenty of time for networking and building new connections so we’re looking forward to hearing about some emerging collaborations.

Anyone with project or event ideas focused on science and creativity is invited to put them forward even in the early stages, as by doing so, you’ll be able to seek the help and support you need to make them happen.  The first stage is to submit an Expression of Interest form to outline your idea, you’ll then be welcome to attend our monthly “3rd Thursday” Hub meetings and to request a pitching slot at future Collaboration Events.

The 4 projects shared on the night are summarised below – if you’re keen to find out more, support with their asks or invite them to partner with your project why not get in touch?

The next Collaboration Event will be on 23rd October at lunchtime, with the theme  “Skills development and new pathways in STEAM” – we hope to see you there!
