Concrete Canvas is Chelmsford’s first ever Street Art Festival, brought to you by the city’s Business Improvement District, Chelmsford For You, in partnership with Chelmsford City Council and Ignite Chelmsford.
Between Saturday 14 – Friday 27 May a number of sites across the city centre will become the canvas for a mix of fantastic large and small murals, created by a selection of internationally renowned street artists alongside some of Chelmsford’s leading local artists.
The aim of the project is to enhance the Chelmsford city experience by giving a new lease of life to blank spaces whilst providing a sense of connection and pride to the local community.
On Saturday 28 May we’ll be holding the festival’s Street Party in the Bond Street Bowl, which not only launches the complete art trail but will celebrate Chelmsford’s street culture.
The event is FREE and aimed at all ages. There is packed day of entertainment and attractions featuring a mix of local talent, including:
– Art Fair
– Live graffiti demos
– Street Dance performance, workshop and battle
– Live MCs
– Public Drawing Wall
– Tote bag spray workshop
– Vinyl record stalls
– Graffiti style face and body paint
– Plus more…
It’s also the place to come and collect the official Trail Map.
In the lead up to the launch there are various opportunities for you to have a free hands-on art experience:
