Ignite Social

Every 2nd Thursday of the month Ignite holds an in person get together. A relaxed environment to meet people in Chelmsford, have a friendly chat and hear talks on inspiring creative & cultural topics. Our bar serves local beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.
We are often treated to a short performance or taster from speakers – recently we have had a cello performance, beer tasting, poetry reading and storytelling.
No prior knowledge of the topics is needed, and everyone is welcome! If you have any questions about coming along please contact ku.gro.drofsmlehcetingi@olleh

- What: Friendly get together, with bar and talks from interesting creative speakers
- Where: Artists at the Meadows, Unit 32, The Meadows Shopping Centre, 42-47 High St, Chelmsford CM2 6FD
- When: 7-10pm, every 2nd Thrusday of the month
Topic: This month we will be hearing all about the Chelmsford Museum Shifting Perspectives exhibition, and learning about the slow looking movement. The exhibition is the result of conversations with people living with dementia and their companions about works of art in the Museum’s collection. The social will be held at Artists at the Meadows, with a wealth of brilliant local work on display, so you will also have the chance to practice slow looking with others on the night.
Speakers
The evening will be hosted by Chelmsford Museum Curator Claire Willetts.
- Catherine Chastney: Catherine will be talking about the Shifting Perspectives exhibition, and her work with I Picture This, which brings reproductions of artworks into homes, care settings and community groups, to explore and discuss art in a relaxed, engaging and informal way. ‘I help people to look at art closely; to ask questions, form ideas, and enjoy exploring. In art there are no wrong answers, just opportunities for conversation and connection.’
- Dr. Aleksandra (Sasha) Igdalova: Dr. Igdalova studies how different ways of looking at art influence our experience and what can be done to make that engagement more meaningful and beneficial. She collaborates with museums and galleries to investigate how practices like slow looking, mindfulness, and guided discussion affect perception, well-being, and aesthetic appreciation.
