Events
Our events are hosted in the city as well as online. Our relaxed monthly Socials are a great way to meet others and hear inspirational talks from local and national creatives. Our online, monthly Hub events are the ideal platform to promote what you are doing and call out for support and collaboration.
If you are holding a creative or cultural event in or near Chelmsford then fill in the ‘Add your event’ form below, and we will include in the monthly Ignite Members’ and Friends’ newsletters.
We recommend that all events are also listed on the Chelmsford for You website, the central hub for event listings in Chelmsford.
Once a month, Ignite hosts a social meet-up — an inspirational gathering and an opportunity to learn how we can support one another’s work.
Arts, culture and creativity can give people a voice, raise awareness on important issues and provide a space to share personal experiences. Join us for a lively evening exploring this topic with two great guest speakers.
Ben and Tina Coen of Electric Cooper Films will talk about their recent documentary film ’ Steel Spirits’ about High Rollers a wheelchair basketball team. Ben and Tina will talk about their experience of making the film and working with the High Rollers to tell their story.
The film has been selected for the London Lift Off Film Festival and had great reviews including from The Spinal Injuries Association: “Strength. Spirit. Grit. Compassion. Check out this documentary on the UK’s Wheelchair Basketball Team High Rollers You’ll be amazed before you’re halfway through.”
Rebecca Loan, Macmillan Engagement Lead for Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire will show part of a short film that has been made about the Can Create Community Project and talk about how art spaces and networks can work alongside national charities to deliver arts and health outcomes. Can Create is a co- produced community led arts and health project connecting, empowering and giving voice to people who have been affected by cancer during the pandemic.
Rebecca will talk about the importance of using creative opportunities to start conversations around challenging subjects, shaping environments to give people a voice and a space to share their experiences.
We look forward to seeing you there!
