Events
Our events are hosted in the city as well as online. Our relaxed monthly Socials are a great way to meet others and hear inspirational talks from local and national creatives. Our online, monthly Hub events are the ideal platform to promote what you are doing and call out for support and collaboration.
If you are holding a creative or cultural event in or near Chelmsford then fill in the ‘Add your event’ form below, and we will include in the monthly Ignite Members’ and Friends’ newsletters.
We recommend that all events are also listed on the Chelmsford for You website, the central hub for event listings in Chelmsford.
Every second Thursday of the month, we host a social meet-up with creative inspiration and an opportunity to connect and learn how we can support one another’s work.
This month we celebrate different forms of movement and dance.
Speakers:
Tia Coker – Currently manager of The Art Place in Chelmsford, Tia is a fitness coach and Afrobeat’s Dance teacher with a BA in 3D design. Tia and her daughter form the dance group the ‘Fantastic Duo’ who perform at local events. Tia’s 3D design work is being featured at the Art Place this spring, exploring hair and its connection to culture and identiy (read what Tia has said about her previous art exhibition).
Orit Sutton – Orit is the Artistic Director and Producer of Let’s All Dance, a professional ballet company creating and touring shows for children and family audiences across the UK. Orit believes passionately that ballet should be accessible to everyone, not an elite few, and aims to reach more children from low income families and non-theatre going backgrounds with her work.
From 7pm – People begin arriving.
7-7.30pm – Getting drinks and meeting fellow creatives in the bar space, serving soft and alcoholic drinks (we only take card payments). There is a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and also space outside of the bar to be by yourself or with smaller groups.
7.30-9pm – People move through to the presentation space, to hear from the speakers. Many use power point presentations, and some give performances. There is a Q&A at the end, giving an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers.
9-10pm – Some people choose to leave at 9pm, others choose to stay to informally catch up further. The bar is open until 10pm.
