Events

Our events are hosted in the city as well as online. Our relaxed monthly Socials are a great way to meet others and hear inspirational talks from local and national creatives. Our online, monthly Hub events are the ideal platform to promote what you are doing and call out for support and collaboration.

If you are holding a creative or cultural event in or near Chelmsford then fill in the ‘Add your event’ form below, and we will include in the monthly Ignite Members’ and Friends’ newsletters.

We recommend that all events are also listed on the Chelmsford for You website, the central hub for event listings in Chelmsford.

Ignite Social: Exploring mental health, wellbeing and creativity

11 May 2023 @ 7:00 am - 10:00 pm

Free

This month we look forward to Mental Health Awareness Week, and consider the role of creativity in shaping our mental and physical wellbeing.

This can come in many different forms. From finding an artistic or creative outlet which allows us to express our thoughts and feelings, when we might find this difficult to do otherwise. Through to finding a piece of writing, art or performance which speaks to our experiences.

It may be in the power of art to start a difficult conversation, or to communicate our beliefs and identities.

We will hear from a number of speakers on how art and creativity has been a key part of their wellbeing – and how they use art and creativity to empower others.

SPEAKERS

  • Charlotte Robinson – Is an artist, mental health activist and trainee counsellor / psychotherapist. She is the founder of Minus Cloud Nine, a community driven brand which creates garments and artwork aimed at instigating conversations about mental health. Charlotte will share her creative, business and activism work with us.
  • Amanda Kelleher – An award winning theatre maker, using silly shows to explore serious themes. She is also CEO of Good Mood Creative which creates amazing performing arts projects to improve mental health. Amanda will talk to us about her performance, projects and research on the links between creativity and mental health.
  • Rebekah Carter – Has a number of creative talents, across writing and performing rap / freestyle and poetry, and painting. She is the founder, along with her sister, of Sister Circles Chelmsford – a space for women to come together to share, support and be empowered. Rebekah will talk to us about finding authentic expression through art.

What to expect? Bar, chilled music, social chatter, some short brain food talks.
