Events
Our events are hosted in the city as well as online. Our relaxed monthly Socials are a great way to meet others and hear inspirational talks from local and national creatives. Our online, monthly Hub events are the ideal platform to promote what you are doing and call out for support and collaboration.
If you are holding a creative or cultural event in or near Chelmsford then fill in the ‘Add your event’ form below, and we will include in the monthly Ignite Members’ and Friends’ newsletters.
We recommend that all events are also listed on the Chelmsford for You website, the central hub for event listings in Chelmsford.
Who can blame us for feeling frustrated — in a world rife with inequality and unfairness how can Art empower and inspire social change?
Using Art to communicate and encourage people to discuss and reflect on complex issues is nothing new. There is much to make us angry right now and drive us to protest. How can Art help?
This Ignite Social hosts two inspirational female creatives channeling that frustration into creative expression, frank conversation, and social change.
Colette Bailey Executive Director of The WOW Foundation and former Artistic Director and CEO of Metal . WOW work to build and sustain a global movement that believes a gender equal world is possible and desirable through festivals and the empowerment of women, girls and non-binary people.
Syd Moore founder of The Essex Girls Liberation Front and author of the Essex Witch Museum Mysteries will speak about her work campaigning for change. In her talk ‘Anger is an Energy – Essex Girls and Witches’. Syd Moore will talk about how she got fed up with the usual rubbish and decided to change it. Syd has worked as a lecturer, in publishing and is co-creator of Superstrumps, the game that reclaims female stereotypes.
