Events
Our events are hosted in the city as well as online. Our relaxed monthly Socials are a great way to meet others and hear inspirational talks from local and national creatives. Our online, monthly Hub events are the ideal platform to promote what you are doing and call out for support and collaboration.
If you are holding a creative or cultural event in or near Chelmsford then fill in the ‘Add your event’ form below, and we will include in the monthly Ignite Members’ and Friends’ newsletters.
We recommend that all events are also listed on the Chelmsford for You website, the central hub for event listings in Chelmsford.
The act of sharing a story is powerful. It provides shared experiences, personal connection, and moments of open reflection.
From reading a book with a child to developing a shared narrative for a community, stories and the words within them have the potential to bring people together and provide a sense of unity.
For this month’s Ignite Social, we are delighted to present two inspirational speakers who are veterans from the world of storytelling:
Aaron Fickling is the Managing Director of Grafik Language – a unique copywriting agency who ‘work with marketers, brand managers and entrepreneurs at start-ups, advertising agencies and film studios to flesh out ideas and help draw people in’
Aaron will speak about their recent commission to develop a narrative and identity statement for the city and surrounding areas, working with Chelmsford City Council, Culture Chelmsford, One Chelmsford, and the Ignite Chelmsford Cultural Partnership. Drawing from his broad experiences working with other partners, Aaron will provide insights, food for thought and inspiration on how to implement a narrative to galvanise and breathe life into a place.
Ros Green is the Director of Essex Book Festival, who have a vision to enrich the lives of people across Essex by organising the widest possible range of opportunities for engagement with books, reading, writing and storytelling.
Ros will speak about the award-winning work between Chelmsford Prison and Essex Libraries that has provided space for families to spend time together, to share stories, rhymes, books and crafts, all in an intimate and familiar setting.
Ignite Chelmsford is a cultural forum for those involved in Chelmsford’s creative community. Whether you are worker, volunteer, potential partner, or simply a culture loving resident – you are welcome, and we want to hear from you!
Once a month, Ignite hosts social meet-up: an inspirational gathering and an opportunity to learn how we can support one another’s work. There will be time to shout out about upcoming events, help needed or ideas in development so feel free to bring along any promo materials.
We will have a cash-only bar with soft and alcoholic drinks.
We suggest a donation of £5, but our event is intended to be accessible and open to all, so a donation is not mandatory.
How to find the venue: Patch is in the old Chop Bloc space, just off the High Street, by the escalator entrance to Debenhams, and next to Nandos. Google maps: 51.732628, 0.475775
We look forward to seeing you there!
