Events
Our events are hosted in the city as well as online. Our relaxed monthly Socials are a great way to meet others and hear inspirational talks from local and national creatives. Our online, monthly Hub events are the ideal platform to promote what you are doing and call out for support and collaboration.
If you are holding a creative or cultural event in or near Chelmsford then fill in the ‘Add your event’ form below, and we will include in the monthly Ignite Members’ and Friends’ newsletters.
We recommend that all events are also listed on the Chelmsford for You website, the central hub for event listings in Chelmsford.
Every second Thursday of the month, we host a social meet-up with creative inspiration and an opportunity to connect and learn how we can support one another’s work.
This month we will be discussing the culture and creativity of skateboarding, barriers and pathways to inclusion, diversity and innovation.
Speakers:
Dr Esther Sayers – Senior Lecturer in Education at Goldsmiths University. Esther’s research interests are learning and participation in the arts, culture and sport, with a particular focus on equity and inclusion. She will talk about her work around people’s sense of belonging in cultural spaces and barriers to inclusion, and her involvement in inclusive skateboarding projects – including City Mill Skate park design, and Girls into Skateboarding research.
Shaville Rose – Founder of Outlaw Skate Co, a Chelmsford based brand who design, paint & sell bespoke skateboard parts and merchandise, and film and edit skateboarding content. Shaville will talk about the creative journey behind this exciting brand, and the inspiration for his designs. He will also reflect on skateboarding culture, the idea of the ‘core skater’ and how this interacts with the vision of a strong, diverse, exciting skating community.
