Events
Our events are hosted in the city as well as online. Our relaxed monthly Socials are a great way to meet others and hear inspirational talks from local and national creatives. Our online, monthly Hub events are the ideal platform to promote what you are doing and call out for support and collaboration.
If you are holding a creative or cultural event in or near Chelmsford then fill in the ‘Add your event’ form below, and we will include in the monthly Ignite Members’ and Friends’ newsletters.
We recommend that all events are also listed on the Chelmsford for You website, the central hub for event listings in Chelmsford.
Every second Thursday of the month, we host a social meet-up with creative inspiration and an opportunity to connect and learn how we can support one another’s work. With a bar serving soft and alcoholic drinks, teas and coffees, relaxed music, socialising and the inspirational talks.
This month we will discuss the use of creativity and culture as a powerful tool in mentoring – providing creative pathways and expressive outlets for young people. We will hear both from mentors and from young people on the journeys they have taken and how creativity can change lives.
Sangita Mittra will introduce the evening and talk about her organisation NGDA, who have recently launched their Culture Shock project. This project will teach young people at risk of or having experienced honour abuse, county lines activities or racism, how to host and participate in local cultural events.
Speakers:
– Perry Blake – founder of the 21up Movement, a youth intervention programme designed to create opportunities and activities for young people. 21up aims to educate on the effects of drug misuse and youth violence, encouraging more conscious decision-making and promoting positive lifestyle choices. Activities are focused on helping young people get creative and express themselves, including studio sessions, creative writing classes, music production, podcasts and more.
– Group discussion with young people – who have engaged in mentoring and are striking out on their own creative paths. They will talk to us about their journeys, influences and inspiration, and may show us some things they have been working on. Names TBC.
