Theo Wright (Senior Marketing Lead, Essex Cricket) describes an opportunity for a photographer to assist with Essex Cricket’s campaign, celebrating 100 years in Chelmsford.
2025 will mark 100 years since Essex County Cricket Club made Chelmsford it’s permanent home and to celebrate the milestone, we’d like to explore the connection between the Club and the city focusing on the strong visual presence the ground has and it’s impact on the city centre and the skyline.
We’d like to produce a collection of photos depicting views of the ground from various landmarks and focal points across the city, as well as highlighting the brief glimpses of the ground found in openings in housing estates, between trees and from high points.
These shots will be paired with a selection of images taken from within the ground to showcase the fly-on-the-wall experience from the other side of the boundary rope.
The purpose of this project is to capture the emotional connection between the Club and it’s community and the essence of what it feels like to be an Essex supporter.
The series of photos will form an exhibition that will be displayed in the The Doug Insole Pavilion at the ground, with the ambition of it featuring in other locations throughout Chelmsford as well. The photos will also form our 2025 Membership campaign across digital and print as well as merchandising.
This campaign will be produced in collaboration with Chelmsford City Council.
We’re looking for a photographer who has a strong understanding of Chelmsford and the impact of the cricket club on the surrounding landscape.
The shoot will take place over two days, at least one of which must be during Essex’s fixture against Surrey from Thursday 26 September to Sunday 29 September.
Please register your interest, along with your portfolio, day rate and availability throughout September to ku.gro.drofsmlehcetingi@olleh
