Open Call: Chelmsford Theatre Home Education Sessions (closed)

Megan Crisp highlights an opportunity for Ignite members, to provide workshops for people taking part in Home Education.

Home education is a hugely growing movement in the UK, with an estimated 97600 children being homeschooled in Summer 2023 (gov.uk). Chelmsford Theatre know it is important to provide every young person with the chance to learn and explore creatively, whether they partake in mainstream education or not.

This is why we are establishing our new Creative Education Programme, that provides monthly 4-hour sessions for young people who are being home educated. These sessions will bring together young people across a broad age range to focus on a different creative pursuit each month! This could be anything, from dance to creative writing, spoken word to drumming.

The sessions will run on the first Tuesday of the month, starting in October/November, running from 10am – 2pm. Time will be allowed for lunch, and it is expected the children will present or perform something at the end. All facilitators will be paid for their time. We can also look at running two shorter sessions on a similar theme (e.g. song writing and creative writing) on the same day.

If you are interested in providing a session, please email Megan at Chelmsford Theatre on ku.vog.drofsmlehc@psirc.nagem for more information or to confirm dates!
