A New Ignite Market Stall
Ignite are launching a new monthly Market Stall, which will be pitched outside Barclays Bank on the High Street.
We will run this stall on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of every month, engaging with shoppers and passersby to get them excited about the creative and cultural offer in Chelmsford.
We want to do all we can to make the amazing work of our members as visible as possible, and connect the public to the wealth of opportunities, experiences and products on offer.
Linking with local freelancers, independent businesses, cultural venues, charities, CICs, social enterprises and others, we will collate the latest things people want to promote each month and feature information about these on the stall.
The stall will also be eye catching and welcoming, with a brand new colourful gazebo currently being made (featuring our very own local talent – see article images!), and creative activities to bring people in.
Volunteering Opportunity
We have a unique opportunity to offer to 8 of volunteers to help run this monthly stall.
Volunteers will have a crucial role in setting up and running the market stall, engaging with the public, and nurturing an enthusiasm for the local creative and cultural scene. Volunteers will also build up knowledge of Chelmsford’s cultural offer over time, and be able to make connections and recommendations for people, dependent on what their interests are.

- Working with one other volunteer
- Collecting the gazebo and equipment from Market Square at 8:00am and bringing to the Barclays pitch, setting up the gazebo and stall equipment by 9:00am – a trolley is provided for this
- Supervising the Market Stall from 9:00am to 16:00pm, including a lunch break
- Taking down the gazebo and bringing it back to Market Square after 16:00
- Committing to cover three Saturdays a year from the dates below
You will have a full handover from someone who has previously run the stall.
