Skills Fest: Callout for creatives

On Thursday 27 June, Chelmsford City Council will be holding their third annual skills festival at ARU Writtle (Writtle University College). This is a relaxed, fun, festival-style environment which allows young people to get a hands-on experience of Chelmsford industries and potential career paths.

The event is aimed at Year 8 students, with around 1,200 young people from 8 local secondary schools and 65 exhibitors due to attend.

Ignite have worked with Skills Fest to bring together an exciting new creative quarter at the event for the first time. As part of this, we will be hosting an independent creatives stall to allow freelancers, social enterprises and small businesses to showcase what they do, without needing to give up the whole day or bring lots of equipment.

We are asking for interested people and organisations to make contact to discuss taking part. We are looking for all walks of creative life to show the diversity, vibrancy and also the reality of creative careers.

Ignite staff members will  be present to support you, and you will have the chance to network with other businesses.

Contact me via hello@ignitechelmsford.org.uk if you are interested in:

  • Booking a two hour slot during the day (between 9.15am-2pm)
  • Providing an interactive activity for young people to get a taste of your work or practice

Have a look at last year’s Skills Fest for a taste of what to expect!
